Ivan Seidenberg discusses that occurred during his tenure at Verizon Inc and how a telephone company became a worldwide network and telecommunications organization. He goes over two main strategies that he believes helped the company to grow and be competitive including what he calls a chessboard strategy and the implementation of non-linear thinking. He explains why it is important to have a long-term focus and keep four to five steps ahead of your competitors and the marketplace. Seidenberg discusses the importance of employing non-linear thinking in the business setting includes that it spurs innovation and creative problem-solving.
