Glenda Eoyang  (Author & Founding Director, HSD Institute)

Glenda Eoyang describes the STAR model of team development and communication that was developed by Brenda Zimmerman. She explains that Zimmerman’s research indicated that in many cases teams turn out to be less than the sum of their parts and unproductive in their work. Eoyang goes over the essentials of the STAR model which includes identifying and understanding similarities and differences within a group, making sure to talk and listen clearly, to be involved in authentic work that is task-oriented and important, and know the reasons for team involvement whether it is for a long-term commitment or to achieve a short-term goal.
