James Lam explains what he sees as the responsibilities of the Chief Risk Officer. He goes over some of the skills that CROs should have including the ability to push back at management if he or she feels that the organization is taking on excessive risks or not dealing with compliance issues. Lam discusses some of the major tasks of the CRO including working with the board, hiring the right people, and providing the right organizational leadership in corporate risk. He also talks about his experience as the first CRO.
