Margaret Honey, the President, and CEO of the New York Hall of Science welcome attendees to the 5th Annual Spring for STEM evening held on April 11, 2019. The topic for the annual presentation is the revolutionary gene editing technology known as CRISPR and the ethical and policy implications of its use in health care. She provides an overview of the NYSCI President’s Council which sponsors the event and the ongoing work of the New York Hall of Science including being a training ground for young scientists. The event includes a short video on CRISPR technology produced by the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT. Honey introduces Sharon Begley, the moderator for the panel discussion, who is a senior science writer at STAT and the author of several books.
